- Multi-skills with Pacesetters.
Update 2020…..We hope to be able to open our doors to new clubs and sports games providers in due course and in keeping with Covid-19 advice and protocols.
Our strong partnership with Chenderit School Sports Team ensures that our pupils have the opportunity to engage in cluster competitions including; Cross Country, Sports Hall Athletics, Football, Multi-skills events, Gymnastics and much more. Here, they are not only ambassadors for St. Loys but strive to achieve as individuals with a thirst for self-improvement and a drive to do their best. We have welcomed their successes over the last year in Football and Sports Hall Athletics where we placed in the top 3 schools.
The Great Outdoors
At St Loys we recognise the benefits to children’s physical and mental well-being when opportunities are presented for learning outdoors. We are fortunate to be situated in a rural location where we can actively engage with our physical education, including walks, gardening and outdoor PE.
Our allotment is home to our Gardening Club and all pupils have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of tending to this.
The Daily Mile
We have recently joined the Daily Mile initiative and our pupils are maintaining their enthusiasm for their run, walk or jog each day….for more info see https://thedailymile.co.uk/
Lego Club is a lunchtime club run by older children in the school.
Each Wednesday lunchtime, 12 children from that term’s chosen class (Reception, Year 1/2 or Year 3/4) come up to Lego Club. Every week, there is a different building challenge and a special winner (who receives a trophy in Friday’s sharing assembly).
We aim to provide as wide a range of activities as is practical in a small school and are very fortunate to have a purpose-built, for multi-use, hall (which was built to Sports England requirements and is the size of an International Badminton Court). We also have the use of the nearby large Millennium Field in the village.
St Loys run a Morning and an After School Club each weekday, please contact the office for details of sessions and charges.
Children are introduced to a variety of sports including Tag Rugby, Football, Netball, Athletics, Tennis, Gym and Cricket. We regularly visit local secondary schools to take part in family/primary school cluster competitions, such as Sportshall Athletics, Multi-Skills and Orienteering, to name a few. Our pupils have the opportunity to take part in the Woodford Halse Cross Country competition each year. Years 3 to 6 pupils swim for a term at Brackley Swimming Pool. Our Year 5 and 6 children take up the Bikeability challenge with Cycling England.
Please have a look at our Sports page.
Music and Drama:
Children participate in performances for parents and friends at the School and in the Church. Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT) provides the opportunity for Junior pupils to undertake tuition on many instruments. At the moment St Loys offers tuition on: Strings, Keyboard and Brass instruments. These instruments (with exception of keyboard) are loaned free of charge for the first year through NMPAT. For further information please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Children from Year 2 and above are also offered the opportunity to take private Guitar lessons.
Our Year 1 and 2 children learn to play Ocarina in the classroom, which is always popular.
Children also have the opportunity to have shared lessons in the Recorders, Drums, Ukuleles and other instruments on rotation. These opportunities are provided by the governments ‘First Access’ scheme run through NMPAT.
We are often able to offer before or after-school activities including European Languages, Dance, Gymnastics, Multi-Skills Sports and Hotshots Basketball. Please check with the school for a list of clubs currently running.
