The child has one intuitive aim: self development

Newsletter 1 Spring Term 3, 6th January 2023

Dear Parents & Carers

Welcome back to school and a very happy new year to you all! It has been lots of fun listening to the children’s tales from the holidays and hearing about the surprises and gifts from Father Christmas. This week in class we have shared thoughts about new year resolutions. Badgers class talked about the Roman God, Janus and his two faces symbolic of beginnings and endings. The children have reflected upon the past year and considered their best moments and achievements. At St Loys we have been thankful in our prayers for new beginnings and have resolved to make the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.

In worship this week, we talked about Epiphany and the children understood that God wanted the shepherds and the Wise Men to see the baby Jesus. The children were able to explain that in God’s eyes it doesn’t matter if we are rich or poor or where we come from, God wants everyone to know Jesus because he loves us all. Through worship we have begun to consider our Christian value of love – the children have given wonderful responses about how they know they are loved and how they can show love to others.
