Dear Parents and Carers
This week in the church calendar, Thursday 13th May, marks the occasion of Jesus’ ascension, This is the time, forty days after Easter, that Christians celebrate Jesus’ ascension or entrance into Heaven. The ascension shows us that Jesus’ work on Earth was finished and Jesus returned to his Father in Heaven.
This time was also when Jesus prepared his disciples for what would happen next and the promise of a special helper in the form of The Holy Spirit who appeared before the disciples at Pentecost. We have begun to share thoughts about Pentecost which occurs ten days after Ascension Day. Look up Luke Chapter 24 as a family and read Verses 36-53 together to read the story of Ascension together.
