Teaching and learning for Key Stage 2 follows the National Curriculum expectations for Years 3 & 4 and Years 5 & 6. In our class we use opportunities for whole class learning in subjects like History and Geography as well as split class learning according to the needs of the individuals within each Key Stage in subjects such as Maths. As a small school we pride ourselves on having many opportunities to share learning with other classes and staff, with many opportunities for whole school learning and activities. We are fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful countryside and take every available opportunity for walks and outdoor learning.
As the oldest in the school, our Badgers often take the lead in collective Worship and drama performances in the Summer term and are wonderful champions for our little ones and their learning, supporting them via our Buddy system.
This year we are very excited to be linking with Warriner MAT and following a knowledge-rich curriculum driven by a strong set of values about what matters. A curriculum with drive and ambition, informed by research and deliberately designed to enable all of our children to have equal access to knowledge, to value the pursuit of that knowledge and to be able to use that knowledge for good.
Our Curriculum will continue to offer all our pupils a rich and varied diet of learning in all subject areas and aims to ignite curiosity and be dynamic in nature and delivery. We kick start the Autumn Term in Badgers Class with a foray into the Stone Age, exploring the history and the people. ‘Cycle A’ plan and an overview of the year ahead in our class can be viewed here.
